WSO Collaborating Centers and Centers of Excellence

Companies, research institutes, universities, centers, departments, schools and academies whose activities are consistent with the World Safety Organization's Motto: "Making Safety a Way of Life..Worldwide" may be designated as a WSO Collaborating Center in support of WSO programs. Companies with expertise in the field of safety are encouraged to become part of WSO Centers of Excellence extending WSO programs worldwide.


Collaborating Centers (CC) and Centers of Excellence (CoE) aim is participation of various companies, institutes and groups in WSO's activities, including activities of the WSO National Offices and Chapters as well as the World Management Center. WSO CC and CoE's are designated by the  WSO President/Director General on behalf of the WSO to carry out activities and functions in support of WSO programs in specific areas of safety where these centers or companies have special expertise. Teams could be staffed with full - or part-time members
The specific activities and functions of WSO Collaborating Centers and Centers of Excellence could include, but are not limited to, any of the following:

  • Collection, collation and dissemination of information in safety
  • Standardization of terminology and nomenclature of technology, of diagnostic, therapeutic and prophylactic substances and products, and of methods procedures
  • Development and application of appropriate technology and materials in safety
  • Participation in collaborative research developed under the WSO's leadership, including the planning, conducting, monitoring and evaluation of research, as well as promotion of the application of the results of research
  • Training, research training, and coordination of activities carried out by several institution on a given safety subject
  • Support to the business lines through services needed or providing subject matter experts
  • Guidance in standards, methodologies, tools and knowledge repositories.
  • Shared learning though training, skill assessments, team building and certifications
  • Measuring the delivered results through the use of output metrics
  • Governance of limited resources (money, people, etc.), insuring organizations invest in the most valuable projects and create economies of scale for their service offering, coordinating with other corporate interests as needed to deliver value
