WSO Collaborating Centers

All research institutes; university units, centers, departments and schools; or academies who carry out activities consistent with the World Safety Organization's Motto: "Making Safety a Way of Live...Worldwide", may be designated as a WSO Collaborating Center in support WSO programs.

Background
WSO Collaborating Centers (CCs) aim to enhance national and international participation of various institutes and groups in the various arms of the organization's activities, including those activities of the WSO National Offices and Chapters as well as the World Management Center. WSO CCs are designated by the WSO President/Director-General on behalf of the WSO to carry out activities and functions in support of WSO programs in specific areas of safety, where these centers are deemed to have special expertise. The specific activities and functions of WSO CCs could include, but are not limited to, any of the following:

  • Collection, collation and dissemination of information in safety

  • Standardization of terminology and nomenclature, of technology, of diagnostic, therapeutic and prophylactic substances and products, and of methods and procedures

  • Development and application of appropriate technology and materials in safety

  • Participation in collaborative research developed under the WSO's leadership, including the planning, conduct, monitoring and evaluation of research, as well as promotion of the application of the results of research

  • Training, including research training; and Coordination of activities carried out by several institutions on a given safety subject

WSO CCs may be designated by several international organizations, which the WSO expects will further enhance collaboration.
